Compare Color at Home

We highly recommend ordering samples before ordering an area rug that you have not seen in person and evaluated in your home. The only way to accurately see an area rug's color is to view it in the room you intend to place it. Light's impact on color is why this is so important. Obviously, only a sample makes this possible without buying the rug.

Color problems shopping in retail stores

Regardless of how you shop, color will appear differently than it does in your home. So even if you see an area in person at a store you really can not trust the color you see. The issue is that the lighting in retail stores and the lighting in your home are very different. Retail stores use fluorescent lights that are usually mounted on exceptionally high ceilings. This can dramatically alter your perception of the rug’s color. Further, in the store you are seeing the rug alone in a very large space where wall color and surrounding furniture are not in play. Do not underestimate this lesson; there is no substitute for seeing a rug (or a sample of it) in the room you intend to lay it.

Color problems shopping on-line

Understand that you are seeing an image of the rug and not the rug itself. Also, the images you see are affected by the quality and settings on your monitor. This means that same image of a rug may appear very different on your monitor than it does on my monitor. In other words, the colors you see may not be 100% accurate.

To order a sample please call 1-800-240-9149. We charge $30 to send most area rug samples. This includes the cost of shipping. If a rug sample or swatch is not available we recommend purchasing the smallest size rug available. Please inform us that you are ordering it as a sample rug and if return arrangements are necessary.

If you decide to order the full size rug we will refund the cost of the sample.
