This will prevent your guests chairs from falling off the edge of the rug. In most cases, an 8 X 11 is the minimum size required. Depending on the size of your living room and the desired look, a 5 x 8 or 8 x 11 rug is usually the perfect size. Great rooms and mansion size rooms may requite a 10 x 13, 10 x 14, 12 x 15 or even a 12 x 16 or larger area rug.
